Count Leo
Tolstoy has written a number of short stories. His stories show his emphasis on
moral values. This is a story of two little girls. They both quarrel and soon
forget it and become friends again.
Two little
girls, Malasha and Akulya met after the Easter prayer in the church. Their
mothers had dressed them in new frocks. There was a large puddle. On seeing the
puddle, they decided to play in it.
From the
beginning, Akulya warned Malasha not to splash the water. When they came near
one another, Akulya became very conscious. Malasha plumped down her foot. The
water splashed on akulya’s frock.
On seeing
the stains on her frock, she was furiated, she chased malasha to strike her
unfortunately akulya’s mother came, the stains made her angry. She scolded
akulya for the stain but the little girl told that malasha did everything on
purpose.
Akulya’s
mother struck malashaa on the back of her neck. Suddenly malasha began to howl
and her mother came out. An angry quarrel led them to fight. The men came out
and a crowd collected in the street. Now and then akulya’s grandma tried to
calm them. She told that it was a time for rejoicing. But it was useless.
While the
women were abusing each other, akulya had wiped the mud from her frock and went
to the puddle. All of a sudden malasha started to play; the two little girls
couldn’t control their laugh at their play.they were highly delighted.
The old
woman, seeing them, said to the men: ‘are you not ashamed of your selves?’. As
grown-up people, they failed to pacify themselves. But the little girls forget
their enmity and started to play. Pointing this to the elders, the old lady
that little girls are wiser than men.
Thanks. It is very useful to me
ReplyDeleteHow did akulya and malasha prove that they were wiser than the grown-up people? And how did akulya and malasha become friend again?
